Discover a secret Winter wonderland Mt Baw Baw Alpine Resort is Melbourne’s closest and best value downhill ski, and snowboard resort. It offers a fun, safe experience in winter.
With its intimate village feel and sheltered slopes Mt Baw Baw is the place to explore in winter! As it is a small resort, you’ll find that the prices at Mt Baw Baw are more wallet-friendly than those at the larger ski resorts in Victoria and NSW
Mt Baw Baw boasts over 35 hectares of downhill terrain for all skill levels. With it’s gentle slopes set amongst the snow gums, Mt Baw Baw claims the mantle as Australia’s best place to learn to ski and snowboard, or reintroduce snow sports to adults after time away.
It is also home to the fabulous Howling Husky’s at Mt Baw Baw & NUTRO Dingo Resource Centre. So there is so much more to do at Baw Baw than just skiing & snowboarding.
Mt Baw Baw is easily accessed by car with Melbourne only a 2.5hr drive away. When travelling to Mt Baw Baw you must have snow chains in your car (by law), during snow season (June, July, August) before reaching the gate at the resort entrance at the base of the mountain.
If you don’t have snow chains in the car at the gate you will not be allowed entry onto the mountain. Most people need to hire snow chains and there are three options close to Mt Baw Baw; 2 in Noojee and 1 in Tanjil Bren.
Noojee Bush Goods – 0488 451 850 (Hanno)
Baw Baw Snow Chain Hire – 0459 582 692 (Christine)
Tanjil Bren Snow Chain Hire – 0457 320 666 (Paul)
Icy Creek Snow Chains – 0491 123 958 (Moira)
There is a Resort Entry fee per vehicle. Another option is to take the Shuttle Bus Service from the resort gate, this way you won’t have to worry about fitting any snow chains.
