Just out of Neerim Junction, Glen Nayook rainforest walk, Noojee, West Gippsland offers visitors a temperate rainforest experience. This is a very underrated walk & you will not find the crowds here like some other walks in the area. You will discover one of the ancient forests of Gippsland on this lovely walk including 40 meter high trees! Meander down to the picturesque ferny glade located on the Little Tarago River, passing through wet sclerophyll (or hard-leaved) forest, complete with towering stands of Mountain Ash. Stroll through the granite boulders (The Skinks) which have fallen into the creek over 1000 years ago forming the underground river and many sink holes. Find yourself in a ferny glade, amongst a Cool Temperate Rainforest. Signs along the route point out features of interest.
Located on the Tarago River, the pleasant 45min return walk features a tree fern gully, underground river and moss covered granite boulders a stunning way to spend some time at Glen Nayook rainforest walk. This is an easy spot to get to, the car park is ample and it takes you straight onto the walking track. The walk has 2 options with some steps.
- Glen Nayook Rainforest Walk – (1.5km return) – Easy, mostly flat with gentle hills, & with some steps.
